I don’t know about you, but for a long time, I was unhappy. On paper, I looked like I had it all – the family, the job title & salary, the house, the friends. And while most of it was awesome, a big piece of me felt miserable. And then I felt guilty for feeling sad.

How did I deal with my unhappiness and guilt? I switched jobs, went shopping, or drank more wine than I should have. Did it work? Sure, temporarily. But long-term, I still felt this hole inside that something was missing, and the guilt piled on.

As much as we hope a change of scenery, shopping or drinking will fix our problems, they won’t. Only when we can look inside ourselves and honour our unmet needs can we experience more joy.

We will only feel satisfied on the outside if we are happy on the inside. Make sense?

Through leading teams, coaching, research and personal experience, I’ve found four key areas crucial to our happiness – hence, The Happiness Wheel.

Let’s take a look.

The Happiness Wheel - a wheel that shows the 4 key areas impacting people's happiness - relationships, fulfillment, health and money.

The Happiness Wheel areas are:

1. Relationships with yourself and others.

2. Fulfillment or a feeling of purpose in your life.

3Health – mental, emotional and physical well-being.

4. Money – financial stability and security.

Be sure to check back or sign-up for my weekly emails to keep updated on tips for how to improve each area.  I’ll also be going live with various experts on Instagram, so be sure to follow me there @shannontalbot_coaching.
